Meet Delia
Book Barn Baddie (volunteer): Delia.
Delia, a mildly voracious reader, is a member of three to four library book clubs, depending on the month and the books selected. Though she loves her sci-fi book club (but hates fantasy!), she appreciates being exposed to other genres of fiction and nonfiction.
Delia is a big fan of public libraries, particularly the three Parsippany branches. She participates in a lot of their event programming including the aforementioned book clubs, Scrabble playing, multiple crafting events, learning French and anything food related (herbal tea making, cheese tasting, cookbook club). Though she doesn't live in Mt Tabor, she goes to so many programs at the Mt Tabor library that she's been described as the "Where's Waldo" of their event programming as she seems to show up in most of their event pictures.
Delia shares, "I just finished reading The Library Book by Susan Orlean. Like her previous book, The Orchid Thief, it is a bit sprawling but somehow remains cohesive and coherent. Gave me all the feels and I loved it! It reminds me of why I love and treasure books and libraries. I like to think that the Book Barn is like a lending library with benefits (i.e., the Barn circle of life: donate awesome books so that others can enjoy them too, buy new-to-you (or a favorite that has been given away or lost) books and donate to charity all at the same time!) It's a win-win-win situation."
Be sure to say hello to Delia when you see her! She’s usually putting books out on the floor or working the register.
