Build Your Library
Having a home library, a book nook, a free library, a book shed is really trending right now. We are here to help you get started! If you have the space, if you need varied genres, if you want something specific, or if you don’t have the space, let’s break it down.
If you have the space… come to visit us. Our books are $2 for softcover and $3 for hardcovers.* Our prices make it totally affordable for you to build your library. Make a book budget and a wish list and start slow. Come visit us weekly to see what’s new, and start to check things off your list.
If you need varied genres… we’ve got them all. We have sci-fi, horror, romance, classics, poetry, history, non-fiction, memoirs, cookbooks, LGBTQIA+ themed, sports, Black history, and some special bins from specific authors like David Sedaris, Elin Hilderbrand, too.
If you are looking to theme your free library… think Halloween themed, Christmas themed, American heroes, classics, banned. We invite you to think ahead. Currently, we have a sale on Christmas books, so you can buy now and save them for the season. For Halloween, how about Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Dracula? Grab them when you see them and save them for the season.
If you don’t have the space… remember you can make stacks of books on your desks and tables, on countertops, you can even stack crates and load them with books. When the stacks get too high, we happily take donations!
If you want to build your cookbook collection… look no further than the Book Barn. We have a vast selection including home cooking, vegan foods, cookbooks on foods that are Italian, Asian, Mexican, books on baking, celebrity cookbooks, and our favorites: the little community cookbooks groups made for fundraisers. Those usually include stories that really warm the heart.
If you want to give your home some character… our vintage selection will help you in minutes.
If you are building a garden and need books to reference… visit our wall of books on flowers, gardening, landscape and hardscape.
If you are building your media library… we have an entire room devoted to records, CDs, cassettes, and games. It’s wonderful!
Whatever you need, we are here for you. We never really know what’s in stock since all of our books are donated and they go right to the floor to be sold. That said, we can point you in the right direction and help you find what you are looking for. And while we may not have the titles you need, you might find something you love and hadn’t even thought about.
* We do sometimes price books that are signed or very special edition at a higher rate, and we keep those books by the register.
